Strawberry Jam from Paralysed by Nathan Wall-Jones
This is based off an old poem that I have made into a song. The reason I called this what it is, particularly with myself being British, is I do find this society at times insular and almost passive towards the troubles of others. I wanted to draw on the imagery of someone seeing blood spattered on the wall and then dismissing it as Strawberry Jam. The song itself mimicking the kind of music that would accompany a Punch and Judy show. I’ve also put in the last two verses of the poem in the lyrics, as while I couldn’t make them fit well with the music, I do like the idea of them being there but remain silent.

Lyrics
Through a window, we narrowly see a picture of the ideal.
Two and one together, the better they feel.
That assuming the screaming will stop after their next meal.
Smile!
Smiles to begin, smiles to the end,
That’s always been the trend,
Tonight, they will put right their own amends.
Shopping, cooking, begging, mopping, tidying, cleaning, all together, biting, swallowing. Tenderising.
Tenderising…
And through it all, and down it goes,
from one accident, to another.
Curtains closed before strawberry jam hits the wall,
and then there will be no more noise at all.
