For this track, I wanted to personify the feeling of a form of depression that originates from someone who, through whatever means in their life, attributes the mundane setting of their existence to this state of longing for something different. And because he can’t attribute his state to his own attitudes, defends themselves and separates themselves from others. So not strictly about depression but an attitude I see a lot from people as we are constantly working hard for our house, our things, our job, that even when we have these things we are anxious about losing them. All while simultaneously distancing ourselves from others, whose interactions we can find makes us truly happy. Hence in this song the piano part is light and whimsical sounding while there is these heavy vocals and lyrics to demonstrate this contrast someone’s emotions in comparison to the setting of their surroundings.
