Another night of skulling, doing spit takes for the crowd
All I need's a night of sleep but everything's so loud
Barkers got to do their job but all they do is shout
I could pratfall into bed, make Rip Van Winkle proud

I used to have a partner, man the laughs we used to get
Have em rolling in the aisles, all their pants were pissed and wet
He gave up the circuit - funniest man I ever met
Last I heard he lost his shirt, placed one too many bets

He's an entertainer

Now I go up solo, cracking jokes and mugging hard
It's a decent living but I got no calling card
Just another hack hoisted by his own petard
Maybe I'll retire too, get a place with a backyard

But all I know is slapstick, powderpuffs and rolling eyes
Reaching for the funny even when the laughter dies
Radio and movies will be all of our demise
Maybe I could be an actor, paid for telling lies
