La Tribu by Waya Waya

Waya Waya, hailing from Aguascalientes (Mexico), is an exciting project formed by Cani and Janice. Isa GT met the pair while playing in Mexico in 2009 and was surprised by their congruent taste in music. From one moment sharing the bill to playing a party, to that same day were hanging out as if they were childhood friends, the chemistry between them clicked and they started sharing music.
Waya Waya is been going strong for years and counts with official releases on in labels like Mad Decent, Cocobass, Akwaaba and in the Xmas compilation of Etoro Records.

Instead of going for a nostalgic approach of world music, Waya Waya stands for an injection of energy that makes music sounds current and full of life.

This EP contains this energy, from the eponymous self-titled Waya Waya- a full on Kuduro Merengue hybrid; Tradicion is a trippy atmospheric and evolving track with the strong percussive beat that takes you to feel you’re immerse in sound, urging you to let go and be part of this powerful track.
Tribu, for which the EP is titled, starts with all-encompassing and mysterious notes to discover you are aurally participating and entranced in a ritual, a tribe ceremony alongside warriors and holy people.
