soundskate berlin by sage hughes
soundskate berlin was produced as part of an ongoing research/artistic project that explores counter-mapping practices through the dimensions of skateboarding that involve activity, community, and listening in on the sounds of urban space.
this particular album documents space and community, and reflects on how it is (or can be) navigated from the inescapably subjective and temporally located experience of a listener-participant in berlin skateparks/spots. hence, each track contains reflections– personal track notes on experience, integrating the affective and physical elements involved in the process of participation as both researcher and skater.
recorded onsite using a sennheiser AMBEO Smart Headset and occasionally the speakers on my iPhone 11. processed and mixed (slightly) in adobe audition.
