For over a decade, an international collective of young and a bit older people is reclaiming abandoned spaces across Europe to establish community centers such as Pomorandza (Podgorica), Termokiss (Prishtina), DKC (Sarajevo), Space (Tetova), Toestand (Brussels), Uzina (Tirana).
We believe in the fundamental right to space. Where people do not need to consume anything or justify their presence. Where we have the choice and freedom to meet others, organize, experiment, fail, think freely and be free from judgment.
This first compilation album is an occasion to share music and field recordings from five of our cities. A small attempt to abandon the homogeneous and monetary visions that rule our cities. A collective selection ranging from rap to elektro, from ambient to postpunk, from lofi to hifi.
A little taste of local underground,
with greetings and DIY love from,
Podgorica
Prishtina
Sarajevo
Tetova
Brussels
All profits of this first album will go to Space Tetova, the newest space in the collective.
In fact, Space Tetova already started in 2018 but got evicted several times. In the summer of 2025, almost hundred people from Montenegro, Kosova, Belgium and Bosnia & Herzegovina came down to Tetova to help the local collective find and fix a new building that could serve as community center. There were many empty spaces in the city, but it was not easy to track down the owners and discuss the possibilities of temporary occupation. However, the Tetova crew managed to convince one of them: the owner of an old printing facility.
After 10 days of brainstorming, cleaning, repairing and building, Space Tetova 3.0 opened their doors. Inside was now a concert venue, a bar, a library and study space, toilets and shower, and a music recording booth.
We believe in the fundamental right to space. The spaces we create serve as tools for rethinking established social orders within socio-political realities. Through reclaiming abandoned and forgotten buildings and the creation of autonomous communities, we aim to challenge and transform current social structures through DIY practices.
