It was time for my own self to become trapped on tape. Special editions of this tape were 30 minutes too long. I filled those 30 extra minutes with my voice. Not singing, not reciting, but talking. Talking completely off the cuff, with no goal. Becoming radically indifferent to how I sound, and what I say.

I had already checked off the Brian Eno box, which says to use the failure conditions of old media to create a feeling. I creatively used the Dolby Noise Reduction encoder to add flavor to the tape, rather than for its practical purpose. I did it for art! I made the thing.

Always be on the side of art. Always favor the thing being made, rather than not made. You will create without fear. So what if it's not a magnum opus? You've already moved on to the next thing, and that could be even better!

Go draw on a CD with crayon and see how it makes a skipping rhythm. Go cut a loop into a record from the 40s. Glue an old cassette shell together with a closed loop inside. Plug your mixer into itself incorrectly! Hold your next robocall up to the mic and add some effects! Be on the side of art!
