Lyrics

[carla joy]

blooming into life
late
The web caught me by delight
sharing i(c)q’s and messages dialing
in
we met at intersections only
Mycelium knew
composing new words from
the scraps of the tattered web starting to be spun
My hands couldn’t move fast enough
connecting with fonts instead of touch
Oh but it was exciting!
This world wide web shining bright

Big tech Shadows
interrupting the collective light
-- profiteers scheming to consume take flight
Spamming the webs with data infused words
“the network must Grow”

unlike a web that connected
me to you.
and us to many more
This 2.0 net(worked) trappings
Decomposing Our Thoughts
for profit surveilling our every breath

but many of us survived the stench of extraction, warding off toxic transactions
calling it community

We stalked each others musings, as they took stocks to the market floor
Mopping up Imposter Syndromes
growing into a void of nowhere

Genesis prophetic remindings vibrating through the ether-net
“if you follow me I will follow you”

I was paranoid within the para-social dimensions of shared realities
Our truths slipstreaming animating their controlled currents
while algorithms and AI battle it out to take their place as the
opiate of the masses—
flying high
I crack open some more.

I continue to unfurl the parts of me that no one sees
and the glow of the scroll is like a starry night in an unfamiliar place

I keep trying to find myself, forgetting that sometimes we need darkness to heal

These rectangle-traps opened up new ways of being together
where we became artificially mesmerized by the sounds of dings, captured into nets of false promises
as their distorted timelines make their way to feed (off) our hearts

Cloud, struggling to break free sends a message through the digital portals

“Embrace the fractal shapes and become free!”

I quickly mute that message, because I was counting the para-likes to feel para-seen.
and in the distant chambers of my mind, Melatonin was whimpering

“please turn off the lights”

[Sarah Comyn]

become free
unfurl the parts of me no one sees
we need darkness (to see within)

[carla joy]

In the stillness of one long night, I woke to sounds beyond the dings
a branch of an oak tree was knocking
opening the window to touch its branch, the scent of the forgotten rain rushed in the wind siren’d me to look up
peeking through the ancient soul was
Moon

Moons light reminded me to touch the sky

I carried the pockets of light gently
Into the morning
holding the night sky’s embrace,
And feeling our Mycel-cosmic kin’s messages streaming through
my body
Not halting but
Connecting,
letting the net catch fire

because, there is no me in web 2 point 0

[Sarah Comyn]

become free
unfurl the parts of me no one sees
we need darkness (to see within)

become free
