leaves of green
(or so they seem)
grow yellow through my window
now tangerine
now red as embers
now glowing flames in a bleak november

mere spines of trees
shaking at the bone
soaked within a howling breeze i’ve yet to feel
i’ve yet to know

always clever, forever slick
time never tires of trying new tricks
tired eyes stay alive, and they pry
forever fixed
all they can do is exist in that cozy place
behind my window

time sins
observing, scathing, concerning, craving something
beyond
this eternal thing we love to long for
gazing into a winter light
becoming a bothered winter night
vibrant yesterday is gone, feeling still
still fixed upon something beyond.
