Lyrics
These words go out to all my brothers and sisters, trapped in empty rooms
occupied by eyes and ears.
My tears have frozen and melted
This never ending bridge can be crossed
This is for those of us with nothing left to show but the show.
to those trying to paint themselves out of corners.
To those, like me, who made nights to remember after days we wanted to forget
and always ended up doing the opposite.
Cause I know I leave home to find family.
But I still feel alone in that crowd.
That sense of belonging always leaves me longing.
So pour me another glass of ignorance, lemme spark up and smoke
another one of my fears cause I wanna forget that I’m unhappy.
But I already know my guilt can swim, just well enough to keep its voice above liquor.
And sometimes I get tired of jumping through smoke rings that fade away,
tired of looking for peace inside shell casings,
tired of living for nothing, with nothing to live for.
Tired of looking, tired of feeling, tired of trying to give myself meaning.
Tired of questions, tired of lies, tired of thinking my cigarette’s my eyes.
And then I pass out.
We scar cigarette ash into our arms to give our bodies meaning.
We pour poison down our throats to keep our bodies moving.
We graffiti our faces to pull eyes from the empty spaces in the room
We shatter clay pots so people will come to see the “artful” damage.
Would you paint for a blind nation?
Would you sing for a deaf generation?
Would you listen to a mute preacher?
Do you feel for this numbed creation?
It seems that everybody is nude these days,
and hardly anybody is really naked! We…
have PA’s in front of our tongues
and puff up our chests with our lungs. We…
Toss a blanket over our heart and forfeit our senses
and as the clock condenses into seasons & folded opportunities
…All we have left is forward.
