Subsong from Earth Amulets by August V.M.

Augustina Moore aka August V. M. is a songwriter, producer & DJ living and working in Seattle, Washington. Augustina's sound world is at once the dewed resonances of her emerald island upbringing, a glitched breath of cybernetic residue, and dubbed-out homage to ambient pop. Sound-as-space that feels meticulously sculpted, yet only discovered beneath some humming molecular periphery.

For this compilation, Augustina is contributing a piece of music patched and composed in the visual programming language Max. It is her first piece of music written with the software, and was tentatively titled “sinefriend” in reference to the entire piece being built from the ground up with solely the sine wave, in various iterations and processed forms. The song’s final title: “Subsong” is drawn from the unstructured, often rambling vocalization of low volume heard in young birds. A subwoofer lullaby for Dockstader’s sleeping mecha-puppy, curled up and dreaming of electric squirrels~
