Doomscrolling by Wot Gorilla?

Approaching my fourth decade
But my head’s stuck in the second
It is not that obvious
What I should focus on

It’s as if I saw my death
Before I was born

I am just hoping it
Will pass eventually
These days we can choose
The narrative that suits

We are doomscrolling
As if our lives depend on it
Elastic band tightening
Its grip like a vice

Is it more than you can bare
In real time
Prisoner of all those things
You should stop
We’re just fools for yesterday
Taken for a ride
On someone else’s thoughts

Ignoring all current happenings
Ignoring signs
That we’re drifting apart
If only all of this would align
If only I could have got some rest
Before it escalated

Although I tried to break all my bad habits
I’m taking the same route home
