Settling, rust covered everything
Dust it off, or leave it for burying
After all, the silence speaks louder than anything
It’s holding my head to the fire

Could you tell?
Will it ever feel how it felt?
A couple more years, does the guilt go?
Finding fractures in our symmetry
Carved our names out in the ground
Let the season pass, then dig it out

Cataloged the spaces between the words
To try to swim, to drown, or to die of thirst?
And the mountainside I’m climbing has just got me kicking dirt
And washing my eyelids in rain

Could you tell?
Will it ever feel how it felt?
A couple more years, let the guilt grow
Like a shadow hanging over me
Carved our names out in the sand
Let it wash away and start again

Now it’s sinking in
I know it’s been a while
To stay here in my bed
