Lyrics
In Arizona, they came busting down the door
Wife and kids hid in the closet, Jose grabbed his gun
In 7 seconds, 70 rounds brought Jose to the floor
26-year-old father, and veteran of the Core
Makes you wonder what he was fighting for
in this country of ours
He's one of the thousands killed yearly
in the fray of a bloody drug war
Home-invasion style raid by the SWAT
They demonized the victim, said he was dealing pot
That's the reason Jose Guerena was shot
Even though they found no evidence of the drugs that they sought
And who could blame him for picking up the gun?
If you didn't know who was barging in
what the hell would you have done?
Would you protect your wife and kids
and stand your ground or would you run?
And Jose never even shot or aimed
As the police had claimed
Read through the lies, I'm sure you'll find
Our government's the only one to blame
Cause the prison system is funded by the drug trade
A billion dollar industry is made
off tearing apart families, their misery and pain
is all for some politicians gain
Drug war, oh drug war, what have we done?
Ruined many lives, I'm sure we saved none
People, oh people, why can't we see?
That our leaders, not dealers, are the real enemy
One year later outside Monterey, Mexico
A lone truck skirts the highway, driving pretty slow
It dumps it's gory load onto the underpass below
The next day it's discovered by the cops
70 blood bodies with their heads and limbs all chopped
70 human beings displayed as a political prop
Cousins, mothers, fathers, daughters, aunts, uncles, sons
Slaughtered by the Zetas with ATF provided guns
In this 30 year drug war, tell me who do you think has won?
We're saving lives from addiction, that's how the pitch is spun
Then how the fuck do you justify the innocent blood that runs?
Just step back for a minute and watch the money flow
From the Feds straight to the cartels, that's where your money goes
To push drugs into this country so the police state can grow
The violence we're reaping now is from the seeds that we sewed
We need justice for folks like Jose Guerena
and justice for the folks in Mexico
So you want to end the slaughter? Well I'll tell you how
Let's put an end to the drug laws here at home
Cause prohibition is the one thing that allows
A drug lord to rest atop his throne
Drug war, oh drug war, what have we done?
Ruined many lives, I'm sure we saved none
People, oh people, why can't we see?
That our leaders, not dealers, are the real enemy
