The Plateaux area in Gabon and Congo is a transitionary environment between lush equatorial rainforests and drier woodland savannas. These both exhibit excellent wildlife diversity and are home to more than a thousand bird species.
A beautiful feature of this part of the world is that sound can be heard for miles away. Consequently, there will be several layers at various distances wherever you listen from. On top of that, the ambiences are open and bright with little echoes, if any.
WA003 Congo Savanna features soundscapes recorded on the Gabon/Congo border in woodland savanna and grassland zones. Due to the low number of human inhabitants, this area is completely free from man-made noise even on a very still day when sound travels for many miles.
