Gone the fallen leaves the wind has swept,

Forever lost the feathers of countless years,

The ruins of wordless walls beyond the West,

The everlasting echo of swords and spears —

Beneath the flickering flames in Varda’s vault,

There flows a river blue without a halt…



Who shall now refill the chalice in my hands?



For now has Varda’s veil of mist and clouds

Enshrined the vales and mounts of Valimar,

And darkness, spreading like a thousand shrouds,

Has drowned the paths of yore — and nevermore

Shall the jewels of Calacirya shine,

Nor ring the Eastern bells within their shrine!



Namarië! Who shall now find Valimar?

It might be you indeed. Namarië!
