Mexican Flute by Waxahachie Taping Company

The idea was so simple. So simple: Redo the Velvet Underground and Nico album, but with a Navajo vibe and incorporating a pipe flute I bought in Mexico that couldn't produce a single legitimate note. But the best laid plans o' mice and men... one porch session in the middle of the day, during which my roommate arrived home, walked by, and in noticing me playing a flute with one hand and a tambourine with the other, asked when I was going to start “having shows”, a remark I have never forgiven or been able to interpret... but that was his way, after all... then another night session which devolved into heavy drinking, chasing my dog, and then going to see what people were doing at the saloon... They were desert days and we were all beautiful, blooming, pulling out pretend guns on every cactus that looked like it already had its arms raised...
