Visions of a violet sky
Reflected in the color of his eyes
Wonder if he can tell

Hover in the viper’s gaze
He’s sinking in convoluted phrase
But he will not drown

She listens with short attention span
He explains in the way of all of man
She won’t make a sound

She stares at a tiny horizon line
That runs across his forehead and down his spine
To a tail that wraps around

Swirl in river deep, mountain high
