A spectral hum fills this space, carrying echoes of those who once tended the colossal generators. This piece began as an attempt to capture the enduring presence of the Conductors, who we imagine still drift through the abandoned Thermic Stations. Its core lies in unique sounds and articulations, particularly how the detuned guitars create a dialogue between the station's past and its uncertain future. The shifts from intimate, almost whispered solo passages to overwhelming ensemble swells mirror the thermal stratification that carves invisible territories within the structures. We pushed the recording process, letting temperature-varied string tensions introduce microtonal shifts that make the melodies feel like they're breathing, constantly adapting. There’s a specific kind of tension here, growing through competing melodic voices born from hot and cold instrument recordings—a sonic manifestation of the conflicting visions for these places. On stage, this track expands, the physical space of the venue itself becoming part of the performance as the instruments react to subtle temperature manipulations, making each live iteration an organic, unrepeatable event. It moves from a quiet reverence for the technological legacy to an unsettling unease, culminating in a heavy revelation about the Conductors’ sacrifice, suggesting they were transformed by their work, not destroyed.
