Un Presente by Daniel Ferruz

Un presente arises from the deepest need for artistic expression of this young pianist and composer, reflecting Daniel Ferruz’s vision and commitment to his music. The title refers to the importance of fully inhabiting the present, both in life and in art.

At the same time, Un presente is an act of selfless generosity toward others, a musical moment that becomes a vital invitation to live in the present. The compositions on this album are the result of Ferruz’s personal experiences, a constant creative process of study and experimentation with the piano, an introspective work that offers a unique view of his musical personality.

This album is also the result of the consolidation of a stable quartet with a remarkable trajectory alongside saxophonist Joan Mas, double bassist David Mengual, and drummer Adrià Claramunt, with whom Ferruz has developed a distinctive sound over the last seven years, a sound reflected in his previous two albums (Noctis i Miradas), and where he reaches a special level of maturity in this, his latest work.

As a result of this evolution, Un presente also includes three solo piano pieces in which free improvisation plays a key role. Additionally, it features a collaboration with singer Eva Lago on the track Sol del Mediodía, with lyrics by Daniel Ferruz himself.

Un Presente surge de la necesidad más profunda de expresión artística de este joven pianista y compositor, un reflejo de la visión y el compromiso de Daniel Ferruz con su música. El título nos remite a la importancia de habitar plenamente el presente, tanto en la vida como en el arte.

A su vez, Un presente es un acto de generosidad desinteresado hacia los demás, un instante musical que se convierte en una invitación vital a vivir el presente. Las composiciones que forman parte de este álbum son fruto de las vivencias personales de Ferruz, de un proceso creativo constante de estudio y experimentación con el piano, un trabajo introspectivo, que ofrece una visión única de su personalidad musical.

Este disco es también el resultado de la consolidación de un cuarteto estable con una trayectoria más que notable junto al saxofonista Joan Mas, el contrabajista David Mengual y el batería Adrià Claramunt, con los que durante los últimos de siete años Ferruz ha desarrollado un sonido propio y característico que se ve reflejado en los dos discos anteriores (Noctis y Miradas) y donde alcanza un especial nivel de madurez en este, su último trabajo.

Fruto de esta evolución Un Presente incluye también tres piezas a piano solo en las que la improvisación libre juega un papel fundamental. Además, cuenta con la colaboración de la cantante Eva Lago en el tema Sol del Mediodía con letra del propio Daniel Ferruz.
