Transfix by TransFX

Long before the post-rave media empire of TRANS FX took form, there was "Transfix," a riotous goth-punk band descending on to the unsuspecting Olympia scene in 2011 and featuring members of THE FAMILY STONED, MARGY PEPPER, and GAG. Trading equally in soporific analog synths and mournfully ferocious guitar squeal, the band eventually entered storied Olympia studio High Command to document its set for a self-titled 2013 LP.

Released by Dutch Tilt Records, the record was well received in the DIY press, even as the band was already beginning its rapid evolution into the searching electronica of TRANS FX, moving with the restless creative impulses of founder/frontman Chris McDonnell (Daisies, CCFX) and amassing a formidable family of releases on labels like K, Perennial, and DFA Records.

Evoking poetic punk landmarks such as "Beneath the Shadows," "The Scream," and "Epic Garden Music" in its Jekyll/Hyde combination of new-wave panache and howling abandon, "Transfix" stands in its own defiant space, a time capsule from a decade gone, reminding us that then and now we are always stranded in the modern world with nothing to do but fix tomorrow.
