I was walking along on a Freedom March
When another Freedom March marched into my Freedom March
It seemed to me extraordinarily hot for May ...

My whole raison d’être took a bit of a turn
The temperature soared and the sky began to burn
It was “really not of interest” to the government of the day

Well, there were ‘plenty of bees’ in plenty of trees
But that was long ago in the “swinging sixties”
The pendulum has swung the other way

So there’s nothing to do’s
Cos there’s nothing to lose
The whole hooman race turned the birdsong to the blues
Finding it hard to find the words to say ...

We’re not doing the things that we should

It seems I’ve out-welcomed my stay
