I made Geode just before I went to college for the third time (and then immediately dropped out). This album came about because I was beginning to figure out how I was going to become happy. "Fix myself" is too strong a phrase, as I don't really consider that to be possible, but I was starting to understand not only how to be happier, but also how to make better music.
The whole concept is that there's a cracking point—like when you hit a geode with a hammer and light and beautiful energy spills out. That's really what this album was. It's a simple idea, but it's what it was.
