Stay Awake from Open by Tom Ussher
I don't care how hardcore you think you are, everyone is capable of feeling compassion for another human being. I spent most of the last decade playing metal, playing crazy shows, and trying to drink myself to death, and if at the end of it, despite how angry I may feel about so many things most of the time, I still have it in me to care for someone in that way. Though I don't enjoy exposing that side of who I am, it exists so I feel I must acknowledge it.
Stay Awake is about losing someone you love, but looking back on it as an innocent experience you're glad you had, it's that strange sort of affection you feel when you're quite young, those first experiences and what they mean to you, you lose the person because you grow up and become your own individual person, two compatible teenagers might not grow into two compatible adults, but you can hold onto a memory like that forever, loss can be a strangely beautiful part of life.

My name is Tom Ussher, I'm a singer/songwriter from London, England. I spent the last 11 years playing in rock and metal bands, mostly as the singer/guitar player for Tyrian and the drummer for The Cockrockets, after playing nothing but angry music for so long I had a huge backlog of songs that weren't metal and I really wanted to record and release them, two years later and here I am!
