I witnessed a scene last Tuesday night
it was an unbelievable tale
I was playing in a club so smoky and tight
you had to chew the air to inhale
I was blowing the blues like a man posessed
my harmonica had something to say
but who would have guessed it, this woman from Texas
would soon blow everybody away
she took the stage looking calm as a sage
and she said hello with a smile
she introduced herself as Cindy Jo
said she was gonna sing for awhile
and then the note started coming so sweet and clear
the birds stopped singing just to give it a hear
the guy next to me knocked over his beer and shouted
"Thank you Lord, for giving me two ears!"

a couple cripples stood up and walked

but now the only sound you'll hear in this town

I thanked the Lord that I had gone on before
"cause even God couldn't follow that act
I started thinking 'bout what it was about that girl
that was giving me a heart attack
I asked the bartender Stu, to give me a clue
and he said "shut up Tom. I'm trying to heasr"
and suddenly I knew, and knowing what to do
I wrote it all down over a beer
you can make your choices from a million voices
who's range makes the rockies look small
and there's a million singers who'll make the tone on your ringer
when the Muse gives you a telephone call
but there in her voice even a fool could detect it
something strong and true, sweet and unaffected
she showed us her heart, it ws unprotected
touched a part of our souls we leave long neglected
