I love being out in the country where we now live, but I really miss the constant changes of the ocean and the marsh. Tides are slow and patient cycles with very predictable timing, but within that predictability there are huge changes from tide to tide and day to day in terms of how the land gets covered and revealed along the coast.

I've always found the ocean powerful and mysterious... and good company. An hour sitting quietly by the water, either on the beach or inland a bit where the ocean's changes dramatically raise and lower the salty tidal rivers, is always brain clearing, and good for my spirit and heart. I always find myself better for the journey.

I've been in a deep ambient zone for most of the year, so it feels good to work percussion into a track again... and even a little backbeat. I'm a child of 80s pop music... what can I say?
