Fresh paint on the wall
a vandyke-like brown
stuck in the elevator
going down

noise at a door up there
sounds kinda cruel
someone is yelling
someone with tools
can't understand
too much reverb
but I think I should curb
my expectations for this day
but on the bright side
I won't be hit by a car
I won't die on a train
on a boat or a plane


seems that I’m trapped
in a little brown cell
funny thing is
I like it quite well
I look at my hands
in the warm brown light
hey I might look like some
daguerreotype of guy


stuttering moves
the thing gets alive
the people up there get startled
like a beehive
as the door opens
they say now you’re safe
in moments like this I
don't know how to behave
I’m expected to be happy
and to express this in a way
I just say thank you and
