On May 25, 2020, officer Derek Chauvin knelt on George Floyd for approximately 7 minutes and 46 seconds. Although this wasn’t the first instance of police brutality I had heard of or seen, somehow, it was different. It felt different. As my emotions teetered between anger, sadness and despair, I felt compelled to say something and do something in the best way I knew how. This album is an open letter against police brutality, systemic racism and all forms of injustice and oppression. As we continue to fight for change, may it serve as your peace and your motivation. To all the victims and their families, we hurt with you, we stand with you, and we will continue to remind you that you are not alone in your pursuit of justice. To our brothers and sisters, we urge you to continue to take action, to vote and to always remember you are black kings and queens only defined by excellence. To our allies, we thank you for your support and we encourage you to keep having conversations with us and within your communities in order to progress and change our society.
