I think I was doing some house sitting for our good friend and band supporter, Cheryl, when coming up with the tuning for this album. Thinking about it now, I feel bad for that Yamaha acoustic guitar of theirs. Don't know what I was thinking lol. This tuning isn't exactly healthy for a guitar in standard, especially an acoustic. (oops)

I remember the first couple kinda came together quickly. We were playing Melting, Beldam, and Fantasy Hand at a lot of our shows with AFS songs. It felt incredibly real and fresh, like nothing we had ever played together. There's still some old footage of us running that set in Georgia, which probably doesn't sound amazing, but reminds me of the time, which is neat. I was definitely parsing some weird stuff in my head, because this album has a lot of dark characteristics that don't typically pop out on albums in this way. Mac stayed at my house for like 2 weeks I think, and we just worked on the songs day in day out. Kinda funny. This was also my first time recording us with the intention of it being the final version, so that was interesting and fun too. I'll probably never do things that kind of way again, since recording so blindly really makes you do unconventional things. The bedroom drum mic rig was abysmally fucked.

This is one of few albums we ever toured too. That was cool. Thanks Robert for setting that up. And thanks to anyone who was there for that. Oh yeah this made us start Deep Puddle Records too. Wild times.
