Gold Mountains by Timothy Schmidt

Gold Mountains is a concept soundtrack, a body of music written as if it were the original score to a motion picture. The film in this case would entail something like an epic and emotional adventure through mountains. These landforms are traced all over the score, with themes, rhythms, and harmonic progressions as jagged as the world's most treacherous ranges. Emotionally, too, the work has its lows and highs: the barest whispers of solo piano tones allude to moments of ponderance as easily as large brass and percussion ensembles usher in times of triumph and glory.
