Falling Up by Whatever Your Heart Desires

This is the debut Whatever Your Heart Desires album. Download includes two bonus tracks: "I've Changed... (Prelude)" and "Running Up An Avalanche (Instrumental)".

WYHD is an alter-ego focusing on instrumental composition, originally birthed as a take on footwork/juke music, gradually straying further from those constraints as the project progressed, while maintaining the genre's tendency towards unusual time signatures.

The name, WYHD, refers to a concept that has given me hope for the future; the idea that, as time goes on and society becomes more fractured, as technology advances, and as chaos increases, the possibility for monumental change increase. As civilization approaches this "singularity." or "big crunch" (the opposite of the big bang), miraculous events become more likely. (Also horrific, calamitous events become more likely, and so it becomes increasingly important for us to enact positive change in order to overcome or prevent negative changes.)

As with most of my albums, this one is like a rollercoaster, not staying in any mood or groove for long before jolting into a new one, incorporating many genres but often returning to hip hop's drum patterns and sample-based arrangements. It's not relaxing, not something to put on in the background; it's designed to reward concentrated, repeated listenings on high-fidelity sound systems or headphones. Every detail was neurotically sculpted to my very particular satisfaction.

The album includes two of my favorite rappers. Kool Keith and Myka 9. Each groundbreaking innovators continuing to evolve after many decades into their careers. They both contributed pretty awesome verses.

This album and Supercedence were created mostly in the same time period, 2017-2018, with the Supercedence tracks being essentially leftovers from this, the official album.
