REYKJAVIK SHUFFLE from American Dream by This Mad Desire

Morganblaðið is the major daily newspaper in Iceland like the NY Times except it covers the whole country (NYT can probably lay claim to something like that too, maybe...). Steinþór Guðbjartsson was nicelandic enough to promote a concert/video screening I was doing in Reykjavik at Bio Paradis (RIP) for Paris of Love and Paris Amoureux (which appear in this album as "bonus tracks"). Given that I was promoting songs about Paris, France, he thought it might be cheeky to suggest that I write songs about cities and (laughingly) maybe the next one might be the Reykjavik Shuffle. I say, "Ask and ye shall receive!"

eyjafjallajokull volcano hidden in the land of ice and snow. across the lava rock so hot we cannot talk as the aurora glows. we’ll take you to the blue lagoon and swim like fish beneath the moon. then we dream on down the street, another party to get to.

we found a place where the huldufolk won’t find us. another tropicool place where the people won’t mind us.
