Joy's Egg by Spiral

A woman lays an egg filled with all of her negative emotions. At first she’s happy, but she soon realizes she must do something with the egg, before it hatches. A man happens upon a dance of the dead and is taken in by their antics. So much so that he tears off his skin in order to join them. A woman is magically split in half and forced to confront her own twin. A man witnesses the death of his lover, only to have her walk back in to his house a few years later, completely unscathed. In 2011, Aaron and Chris went through an incredibly prolific period. We recorded a set of 13 demos that we intended to use for “Our Final Days on Bellicus Prime.” We had no idea that these 13 demos would spawn four records. Joy’s Egg, DMT Romance, Rumspringa, and Melody Squared were originally intended to be part of the second disc from “Our Final Days on Bellicus Prime”, but we quickly realized that these songs had a different sound. They were more psychedelic than the first disc so we left them off for a later time. That later time is now! With this release 12 of the original demos have found their way onto records. These songs were not left off of Bellicus because we thought they were inferior, we just thought they would make a more coherent record by themselves. The other two songs, Fly and Bonedance were written specifically for this record by our newest member Bill Hatfield.

The 13th demo was a soundtrack to an independent science fiction film. The song is just over 45 minutes long and has been placed in the archives. Who knows if we will ever get back to it. These songs have taken us years of work. We have changed them, sculpted them, expanded them, and given them enormous amounts of love. We hope you enjoy listening to them as much as we did making them! As always, thanks for your support!
