Fifth Season by Philippa Dowding and Allister Thompson

Fifth Season is a collaboration between two old friends and colleagues. Guitarist Philippa Dowding is the acclaimed children's fiction author of such tales as The Gargoyle in My Yard and The Strange Gift of Gwendolyn Golden. Allister Thompson records music as The Gateless Gate and under his own name but is also an editor of books.

The musicians met many years ago when Allister became the editor of Philippa's novels, which he still is to this day. A mutual interest in folk music led to this exchange of recordings, to which Allister added his customary ambient/psychedelic music touches, primarily influenced by seventies German artists like Popol Vuh, Deuter, and Ashra.
