Lyrics
Somewhere out there just north of the Mason, where the winters get too damn cold
Daddy said to mamma, “I think we ot to do it”. He was dreaming about Mexico
So they bought a old Buick and they left one night, with the freedom of the open road.
Mamma said “I know I’d never stop you I could never let my baby go”.
Well they made it as far as southern Louisiana, when they had to stop along the way.
They were running out of time to make a little money, Laffette baby it don’t pay.
He went out one night to do a little shopping with a short barreled 44.
He turned around and said as he was leaving “ ya all better let this one go.
They blew out of town on the ten highway, running hard through the night.
They’re luck ran out a mile from the border, when the sheriff got them in his sites.
He fired one shot, then daddy turned to mamma, as the blood was starting to flow.
He said, “ you know I love you little darling, but now it’s time to let your baby go.
Now the moral of this story. If your thinking bout heading south.
Keep your gun in your pocket, and shut your mouth.
And you will find the next train to take you and yours back home.
Everywhere I be, bad juju is all I see.
The world is in a tangle, and there is no place you can flee.
