Day to day there’s so much threat
From terrorist to national debt
To foolish politicians making bets
With populist epithet

We live in times of so much doubt
Not quite in and not quite out
Let’s shake it all about
Can’t hear the world for the shout

As the world is goes up in smoke
It’s getting hard to feel any hope
And even if we have another vote
Tonight we are in the same boat

And yes there are many better off than us
But there’s oh so many worse, who don’t make a fuss
Their lives are not superfluous
It’s not all you me them us…..

We’re so lucky we can have some respite
To forget our troubles go out for a night
And listen to frivolous songs about rights
And our future
