MIXED EMOTIONS by The Causeways

Mixed Emotions takes us a little bit off the beaten path of our usual up-tempo rock n roll. The music alone is full of emotion kicking off with a somber intro into a noisy guitar chucka. The first verse contrasts a feeling of having everything but emptiness at the same time. When the chorus comes around, we unleash an alternative sounding ruckus backed by ambivalent synths and a call for help although sometimes we ask for it regretfully. The second verse touches on how we deal with unexpected obstacles and how sometimes we think we have things figured out only to realize we don't. Weaving through another bittersweet chorus into the bridge. It kicks off with a lone guitar breakdown. As the bridge picks up steam there’s an affirmation of hope, looking forward and leaving the past behind. With one more emotional drop chorus it builds into a resounding OH YEA and rousing guitar solo. The ending sounds somewhat triumphant but is still questioning what is really happening around us and that feeling of running out of time. Reminds us to listen closely for the guiding voices in our life and be that voice for someone else. In conclusion this can seem like a sad song but can also be viewed through a lens of personal growth which in turn can leave you feeling some Mixed Emotions.
