Paul Saarnak is drummer bij LKWRM en Slowmotion Club maar omdat hij nu en dan nog wat tijd over heeft zette hij zijn eigen solo-project The Beremy Jets op. Sinds 2016 maakt hij met dit project old school shoegaze die in de buurt komt van wat My Bloody Valentine doet. Na vier jaar stilte, waarin Saarnak te maken had met isolatie, stress, ziektes en momenten van hoop en vreugde, is hij terug met een nieuwe The Beremy Jets album.

Het is bijna niet te geloven dat er geen echte band achter The Beremy Jets zit, dit is allemaal ingeblikt door één man. Het geheel klinkt vrij indrukwekkend. Paul heeft een zachte, dromerige stem die we wat weg heeft van Mark Gardener van Ride. Daarnaast bouwt hij met gitaren, drums en soundscapes een vrij intense en indrukwekkend geluidsmuur op.

Maar dat is niet alles, de Zweedse drummer kan ook nog eens catchy songs schrijven en zo staan er negen op dit album. Saarnak levert weer eens een indrukwekkende schijf af. Het debuutalbum Careless klonk al redelijk straf maar met deze Devastation overklast hij zichzelf.

Helaas blijft The Beremy Jets een studioproject en zullen we het album dan ook nooit live te horen krijgen. Dat belet ons er echter niet van om deze langspeler nu al te labelen als één van de strafste platen van 2022."

But that's not all, the Swedish drummer can also write catchy songs and there are nine on this album. Saarnak once again delivers an impressive disc. The debut album Careless already sounded quite impressive, but with this Devastation it outclasses itself.

Unfortunately, The Beremy Jets remains a studio project and we will never get to hear the album live. However, that does not prevent us from already labeling this long player as one of the best albums of 2022."
