Mixing was completed for the previous five tracks before composition for "Sol Invictus" even started. This process only lasted a few days, with the majority being completed the weekend after establishing contact with our audio engineer. In order to finish the EP within the allotted time frame, a remix was deemed the best course of action.

"Sol Invictus" was originally recorded over a decade ago as a two minute demo titled "Sungrazer" featuring a single lead and rhythm guitar. Heavily distorted and poorly mixed, the original demo was re-recorded in early-September of 2020; additional tracks were later added to flesh out the sound, add percussion and finalize the piece.

Fully tracked, the EP was essentially done. The last remaining obstacle before release was the final mixing and mastering. Unfortunately, problems arose immediately. At points, the track was at risk of being cut from the final release of the EP and even a potential re-recording of the entire piece was considered. Despite the grim outlook, all was not lost. Seven mixes and masters were required to perfect the sound taking a further three weeks to complete.

Inspired by warm, sunny summer days, "Sol Invictus" brings a triumphant and powerful end to the story of the Empyrean EP further symbolized by the stylized sun depicted at the center of the album art.

Formed within the chaotic miasma of the pandemic, Anastatica is a psychedelic, progressive rock solo project born from a multifaceted need; to serve as a channel for anxious energies, to evocate self-expression and to represent the reinvention of the self.
