HIGHSCHOOL by THEakasha
Writing heavily as an outlet of expression, THEakasha wrote a ton of songs and poems in high school from 2008 to 2012 to navigate what she would describe as a "chaotic and troubling yet profoundly electric" teenage era. When she got to college and became a sound engineering major, THEakasha decided to put the words to some music produced by a few of her favorite producers to practice engineering and flex her 6+ years of classical voice (opera) training. In just a few months, her first mixtape was born.
HIGHSCHOOL captures the freshness of the feelings that come with new hormones and new responsibilities as an adolescent. Exploring themes of obsession, depression, unrequited passion, and teen angst, HIGHSCHOOL is a snapshot that is raw yet preserved in time.
