Extraterrestrial by Cartographer

Exterrestrial is a science fiction concept album detailing humanity's first contact with extraterrestrial life, the Aldronought. An Aldronought ship becomes stranded above Earth as they run from the war-like Fineli; a race whose need for energy to sustain their over populated homeworld has led them to conquer other civilizations.

An Aldronought in the Nevada desert happens onto a small family, out of fear, they kill the Aldronought. This event spurs humanities debate and likewise motivated by fear, humanity declares war on the otherwise peaceful species who are forced to defend themselves, but ultimately perish.

The ideological schism caused by the Aldronought leads to a global civil war on Earth, all but eliminating humanity and destroying the planet.

This sets the stage for the Finelli's arrival to Earth. The Fineli General, Nero, order by the Empress, uses Earth as a prototype for new energy harvesting technology creating a new Earth using holographic technology merging the digital and organic.

Dr. Charles Oliver, who was at the brink of the schism caused by the Aldronought, survived the war. He had been chosen by the world's governments to lead a team and construct the Oscillator Matrix - a piece of software reverse engineered from the Aldronought's biotechnology and used against them.

The people of the new Earth move about in ignorant bliss of the Fineli and that their data and lives are fuel for a species in a distant galaxy. The true organics, like Dr. Charles Oliver are kept under close watch by the Fineli for they fear outrage if the new humans uncover their design.

Dr. Charles Oliver, overcome with guilt from events of the Aldronought, unveils the truth to two students at the University of Paris, Emily and Erik. The Fineli assassinate Dr. Oliver and Emily and Erik are forced to run, but are picked up by a small faction who will become the Resistance, lead by Vincent Varden, an old friend of Dr. Oliver.

Emily and Erik together with the Resistance uncover new technology, ideas, question structure in society and what means to be sentient, conscious, human and God.
