Kitchen Sessions by Reid+Wolken x Texture Time

A first meeting, one summer afternoon, with no pre-conceived agenda: these are unedited one-take collective improvisations recorded live in a kitchen in Port Chalmers, New Zealand, inspired by its panoramic views of the Otago Harbour.

Texture Time (Peter Claman) samples, loops and constructs sonic collages from the improvised offerings of Karin Reid (voice, words, vocal loops) and Alex Wolken (electric guitar) as well as sampling and looping his own trombone playing in real time.

Slow drench hypnosis, unsettling immersion into a wash of hypnagogic dream-states. Fragmentary ideas slowly accumulate, grooves emerge, pulsate and mutate. The edge of the arrow head prods gently, points to a lost future beyond the tyranny of Insta-time…
