Most of this record was recorded in the fall/winter of 2018 and I had the full intentions of finishing and releasing the tracks to the world, but that didn't really happen. I've always struggled with perfectionism and rigidity, and I've never performed any of these tracks to anyone in a live context. I've told myself for years that these tracks were never really finished, needed more work, or additional vocal takes, but I know that they just need to be put out there. Even if that means that they aren't "perfect". Some of the tracks are rough around the edges, and specifically, I remember that when I recorded "james" that I was sick with a cold.

This started as a concept album where each track is a story from the point of view of men in a fictionalized version of the "wild west". I've always loved spaghetti westerns and it was a fun project for me to expand on my guitar playing.

The tracks are in the order that I recorded them and I definitely learned how to record as the process continued.

Don was my grandpa, and as the title suggests, this is a tribute to him.
