Memory Palace by Ted Morcaldi

This album is a group of tape-loop solo guitar pieces performed live in NYC and CT. A system of combining two tape decks to loop audio and overdub is used on this album. It has been around for decades and is the origin of looping which we now see so commonly and casually.

I have always been intrigued by this tape loop system because of its demands, limitations, and the tape's natural decay and degradation over the life of the improvisation. So much attention to detail, listening, and reacting is demanded in the process of creating an evolving composition in real-time with this system.
