Cinders (single) by Tears for the Dying

Cinders paints a picture of a homeland ripped apart and leveled by a genocidal regime, of watching in shock while crying for the loss of hope and humanity.

Interspersed through the verses is the call, "This Earth, there is that which deserves life!" This refrain references a line from Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwish's 1986 poem "On This Earth." It is translated from the original Arabic: على هذه الأرض ما يستحق الحياة

The line reminds us that even in the darkest of times, we can find meaning and beauty in the simplest of things. It urges us to hold on through despair, to keep speaking truth, and to believe that one day, justice and peace will prevail.
