In the summer of 2013, before we launched our ships
you took me to the mountains that forged you
showed me the heart of a dolomite gorge in you

Well you know I’m a sucker for all things pristine
I fell for your mountainsides lonesome and clean
pure ice cold water, suspension of time
was all that I needed to claim you as mine

I wish I’d known this: I will love you forever my man
I’m a white-burning sun that longs to expand
but I’ll need to known for my burnishing gold
or my heat will be smothered in ashes

Now we’re hearing the last strains of a symphony started way back then
and the sinking of sunset is the beauty that comes with an end
I know now I come from a powerful, dangerous star
and I rue the neglect that I paid to my own glowing hearth

in that winter when we fell apart, I called upon my heart
She told me I’d take you to the gate of trinities
and that Eire’s green waters would heal what was hurt in me
