Lyrics
Dragonsong
One valley over, behind these soft hills,
a few acres of black earth, could heal every ill
the bones of my childhood are in that white riverbed,
where the sweet everlasting was a song in my head
Flowering elders made up my holy dome,
and the grass-whispering winds made me feel known
at the end of each summer with the nights turning cold,
stone fruit falls heavy into whitening gold
well there’s no harm in loving your very own piece of land
and there’s no harm in mourning when it slips from your hands
It’s no crime to be feeling so lost and forlorn,
when new life is breaking your heart to be born
Come back to the beginning of where your rings began
hear the sundragons singing as they arc cross the land
feel the joy in their sundance as they span cross the sky
see the love for your longing in their ancient eyes
With your kindness around me I can loose every bond
and remember my forgetting of all that is gone
and forget my remembering of what’s hurt for so long
and return to the turning of my bright dragonsong
well there’s no harm in mourning, your very own piece of home
and there’s no harm in letting the land be its own
It’s no crime to be feeling so lost and forlorn,
when new life is breaking your heart to be born
