Veins by The Wholly Smoked

"Veins" is the third album in The Wholly Smoked's experimental folk trilogy. Whereas previously "Membrane" dove into dying laptop melancholia, and its successor "Garters" swam in a newfound comfort and stability while still fending off those voices unknown, Harper plays with more elaborate arrangements and energetic moods such as those found in 'Mongrel Guts' and 'Ode To Ye Olde Christmas Tree', and groovier, brooding numbers like Antarctic folk-horror tale 'The Thing' in an attempt to express the year 2024.

Mostly written and recorded in the wake of rehearsals for The Wholly Smoked's live band (Featuring bassist and keyboardist Miles Drady and drummer Violet Livingston), Harper- drumming being her forte- strived to fit more interesting drum and bass parts into the album's arrangements as a means to truly demonstrate how "locked in" they are.
