Homes by Taking the Stairs

He wakes up on top of a mountain after spending the night sleeping under the glow of distant wildfires, magnified by hazy fog. From the firetower he can see smoldering and ashes all around. Deciding to seek refuge in living by the water, he travels to the ocean, bearing witness to the destruction on the way. He decides to live in an abandoned house by the shore; a structure of which he slowly becomes a part of. As a late summer storm makes way for a rising ocean, the structure is swept away. As the storm passes he looks back on the port city nested in the shoreline. Somehow he knows the small vessel at his side will take him where he needs to go.
