Heavy feeling lies deep within,
Weight of being, weight of vile sin,
Memories of hurtful mistakes,
Dwelling backwards, mind splits, heart breaks.

Many people left with image,
Of horrendous, childish lowlife,
I tried to grow, tried to improve,
Left with turmoil, cognitive strife.

Wading through the marshy landscape,
Trying to become less savage,
Learn to live with past misjudgments,
Become better, lessen damage.

How can one cope with past misdeeds?
How can one find self-forgiveness?
How can one exist with themselves?
How can one deal with this sickness?

Self inflicted mental trauma,
Struggling to keep going on,
Existence is anguish and pain,
Is promised happiness a con?

Why bother with this endless fight?
Why is life so hard?
Why must I be so critical?
Serenity marred.

Must learn to forgive,
Find self-acceptance,
Navigate the mire,
Learn from repentance.

History teaches,
Make better choices,
Think before action,
Hear other's voices.

Empathy drives me forward,
Considering other's plights,
Try to shrink global impact,
Respecting everyone's rights.

We must be the best we can,
We must strive for perfection,
We must help each other out,
Show each other affection.
